How We Work.

Women invited into IWF–NM membership step into a lively, statewide network where accomplished women actively engage with one another. They share experiences, exchange ideas, and take part in opportunities that bring their voices forward in meaningful ways. Members contribute their strengths, participate in shaping the Forum’s activities, and enjoy time together that feels both energizing and genuine. Through this dynamic rhythm of involvement, women find a place to grow, connect, and help strengthen New Mexico’s leadership landscape.

Participation & Engagement

Active engagement is central to our culture. Members commit to attending at least two events each year, ensuring our Forum remains vibrant, connected and meaningful. To support statewide participation, gatherings are held in multiple locations and offer a mix of themes, formats and social opportunities.

Our programs range from intimate conversations to larger gatherings, from informal social events to substantive discussions. Some events are members‑only, others welcome spouses or guests. All are designed to enrich, inform and strengthen the bonds among us.

“I’ve met people from really big cities, from affluent backgrounds. I’ve met people who fought for every penny and every good thing that came their way. There is just a huge variety of women in the Forum, but they’re all open and willing to be a friend to anyone else in the Forum.”

Carol Robertson Lopez

Former IWF-NM President

“I think the Forum is a place to mentor leadership, a place where you could connect to other women leaders in different areas and learn. It was a place where you could feel nurtured and a sense of connection, where very often you wouldn’t have it in your own world. I leaned on my forum friends in the early years for that type of support, and they were there.”

What We Believe

Our strength lies in our diversity. Members bring a wide range of cultural, professional, political and personal backgrounds—and we learn from one another through open dialogue and shared experience. We support each other through life’s transitions, celebrate achievements and embrace the freedom to think boldly and express ideas openly.

We are united by a commitment to expanding our horizons, uplifting women and contributing to a stronger New Mexico through leadership, insight and collective action. We work hard, play hard, and grow together.

How We Recruit

Membership in IWF‑NM is by invitation only. Prospective members must be recommended by a current member and co‑sponsored by another.

Nominees are women who:

  • Have achieved distinction in their field and are recognized as leaders
  • Are known statewide, nationally or internationally for their work or contributions
  • Demonstrate leadership in their communities and a commitment to advancing the Forum’s mission
  • Are willing to meet attendance, dues and by‑law requirements

Our statewide membership spans ages 30 to 90 and represents a broad spectrum of industries, backgrounds and communities. Local membership also provides access to the International Women’s Forum’s global network.
