Q Do I need to bring anything special for the weekend?
A   If you plan on skiing or golfing, you may want to bring your own equipment, although rentals are available in Santa Fe. Other than that, bring your imagination, a willingness to try something new and meet new people, and a sense of fun.

Q   What’s the best way to get to Santa Fe?
A   Santa Fe has an airport but it serves private planes and some small commuter airlines. Major air traffic comes to Albuquerque, about an hour’s drive away. Amtrak unloads passengers at Lamy, about a half-hour East of Santa Fe.

If you fly into Albuquerque, you can take a commercial shuttle to Santa Fe. You can book through Sandia Shuttle or Santa Fe Shuttle.

You won’t need a car at the conference, but if you plan to stay later or play tourist on your own, you may want to look into rentals.

Q   What will the weather be like?
A   Hard to say. Spring in Northern New Mexico is unpredictable. The average temperature in March ranges from a high of 56F to a low of 25F (13C –4C), and the average precipitation is 0.9" (this means it might snow, or it might be in the 60’s). Remember, even though Santa Fe is in the Southwest, the city sits at 7000' altitude.

Q   What should I wear?
A   Layers are your best bet. Bring a coat, and your walking shoes. Get comfortable at the Friday hands-on programs. Think jeans, boots, walking shoes, slacks and sweaters. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Q   What effect could the altitude have on me?
A   Some people notice nothing. Others may have some fatigue or perhaps a headache. Be sure to drink lots of water while you’re here.

Q   Can I walk to the city’s sites from Bishop’s Lodge?
A   No, but our program includes abundant sight seeing. And Bishop’s Lodge has a shuttle which can take you downtown to museums and shopping.

Q   Do I have to stay at Bishop’s Lodge?
A   No, but we encourage it since Bishop’s Lodge is our headquarters and the site of many of the programs on Friday and our celebration dinner on Saturday. They are one of Santa Fe’s most beautiful resorts, and they’ve given us a great rate. If your searching for other accommodations, the Santa Fe link will direct you to a list produced by the city’s visitor bureau.

Q   My spouse wants to come along—it that OK?
A   By all means. Or bring a friend. For a guest fee, spouses and friends can join our members for the tours and hands-on activities, or participate in the spouse program, A Guy Thing, hosted by Don Strel.

Note: due to space considerations, only members are allowed at the Dine Arounds.
